Every year, RuutiBudjetti is used to make common decisions about how time and money are allocated for the development of young people's leisure time, hobby opportunities, services and the entire city.
The voting period is 5–30 October. All pupils in grades 6–9 can vote using their Wilma credentials, primarily at the voting events at their local school, or independently on their own time. Young people aged 12–17 who are not enrolled in a school can vote at their local Youth Centres.
What is RuutiBudjetti?
Every year, RuutiBudjetti is used to make common decisions about how the funds of Helsinki districts are allocated for the development of young people's leisure time, hobby opportunities, services and the entire city. RuutiBudjetti is aimed at young people in grades 6–9. It is implemented through co-operation between the Youth Centre and schools in each area in Helsinki. RuutiBudjetti has had approximately 11,000 participants every year.
How and what are we influencing through RuutiBudjetti?
In RuutiBudjetti, young people get to influence the budget of each unit of the City's youth services. In addition to this, youth services distribute 150,000 euros between the most extensive plans annually. Extensive plans affecting the entire City can be promoted in Helsinki's participatory budgeting. RuutiBudjetti proceeds every year in four stages: information gathering, workshops, voting and advisory boards. On the Instructions page
